Survey Results
A survey was conducted for 55 randomly selected psychology students to test for they symptoms of Senioritis. Diagnoses were based on the following questions:
- How old are you?
- What is your graduating class year?
- What is your gender?
- Check all that apply to characterize your current state of being: poor grades or decreasing grades, incomplete assignments, oversocialization, lack of motivation, increased absences from school, excessive laziness, indifferent attitude about your future, missed curfews, etc.
Survey Results
- 81.8% of students surveyed were diagnosed with Senioritis under our criteria.
- Of that percentage, 41.8% were juniors and 40.2% were seniors, showing that Senioritis is not the most apt title for this disorder.
Naturalistic Observation
After observing 3 classes of seniors, we have found that the following symptoms are excessively present among the 12th grade population:
- Laziness
- Oversocialization
- Incomplete assignments
- Expressed concern from teachers/administrators
- Frequently cut classes (All 3 classes didn't have full attendance!)
- Lack of motivation
- Apathetic attitude towards classwork (We heard six students say: "UGH! I don't want to do this!"
